How Deep Is the Ocean?

Most of us today know Bing Crosbie for his extremely famous and popular Christmas songs, but also as equally unforgettable as those is "How Deep Is the Ocean?" written by Irving Berlin. Bing Crosbie's smooth voice flows so well over the instrumental and provides an instant soothing effect. This song details a man's feelings for his significant other by comparing it to the depth of the ocean, the distance from earth to a star, and other extreme measurements. Considering the deepest known part of the ocean is 36,200 feet and that the nearest star to ours is a whopping 40,208,000,000,000 kilometers away, its clear just how much Bing Crosbie loves this girl. One aspect of this song that is very notable is the "crooning," which is a softer, more sentimental way of singing as opposed to the traditional louder style of vocals. Crosbie uses crooning on this song to match the sound perfectly to the lyrics. To me this song is a perfect song just to sit back and chill to. It definitely isn't something they would typically throw on at a party, but when you're just looking for something more casual and soft to listen to this song is an absolute must.

Maple Leaf Rag - Scott Joplin

There's a reason Scott Joplin's second most popular song on Apple Music is "Maple Leaf Rag." The upbeat, bright tone of the song is simply a vibe. What I find remarkable about this song is that it seems to be a perfect fit for any situation. It could serve as great background music for a casual listen when you're doing something fun and looking for some music to match the mood. It can also provide a mesmerizing in-depth listen if you want to set aside any distractions and let the magical sound of the ivory keys flow through your mind. The sound seems to fit perfectly with the turn of a century in the early 1900’s. It seems like the perfect kind of music for a get together full of dancing and laughter for the time period. Joplin uses many impressive riffs throughout the song that are both impressive as well as catchy. These riffs continue to play in one's head even after the song is over. The bottom line is that “Maple Leaf Rag” is a total classic from the RagTime craze era. Its complexity and yet simplicity allows it to resonate with virtually everybody who is looking for a classic ragtime song.

I enjoy sports, movies, and obviously music. I am a fan of all genres however I would have to say my favorite is close between hip hop and country. My favorite artist in music right now is Post Malone. I love how he is able to incorporate the best aspects of a wide variety of genres from hip hop to country to pop to rock.
